Thanks for posting the link. Reading the article brings back memories of younger days playing in the YMCA youth leagues. All during my childhood and teenage years, my injury was essentially no big deal to my friends. My family and childhood playmates never treated me differently because of it. I especially like the line "But because Dillon has lived with this condition her whole life, she knows nothing else. And nobody seems to notice the difference". The article doesn't mention anything about her family, but I bet that behind Dillon are parents who love her dearly, that do not dwell on her disability, and encourage her to participate in activities with her friends knowing that she may be physically challenged. Dillon's approach of working together to achieve goals will serve her well in the years ahead.
