Re: just info i found on another bpi website .....

<t>Hey, I wrote that article! I should add that I'm in no way medically qualified but the article was read and pproved by Prof. Rolfe Birch, one of the most experienced Tbpi specialists in the world. His clinic in London carried out the trials and they involved many members of the UK group.<br/> Can...

Re: ROLL CALL ( LURKERS TOO!!!!!!! )

<t>Bumping up for newbies-a number crunch is way overdue but here are the figures from the last crunching, posted on this thread in July 2007. Lots more added since then, if you're not included in this list please add yourself, then you will be included in the next lot of figures.<br/> <br/> <br/> F...

Re: Motorcycle accidents.

<r>Motorcycle accidents are usually cited as the commonest cause of tbpi, I'm another one, 1980 16 wheeler came on my side of the road. I was lucky in the circumstances, 6 breaks in the arm, all fingers smashed and right tbpi. It was a bloody great big truck. <br/> There is a roll call that's been g...

Re: Phantom Limb Pain: Mirrors May Help

You hide your affected limb so that the reflected image is of a working arm/hand. It worked for me to get rid of that awful clenching pressure feeling, but it also made me feel very weird.

Re: successful vaginal birth after BPI child

Just a reminder, induction is itself a risk factor for bpi.

Re: Speech Problems/Delay?

<t>Changing to use the non dominant hand can cause speech problems (among other things) Kath has a good link that explains it. There's lots of data out there from when they used to make kids use their right hand instead of the left back in the bad old days when left handedness was considered not ok....

Re: Is it the seatbelt?

<t>It might well be-tbpi's from motorcycles are often caused by the helmet which twists the neck/shoulder area awkwardly when the head hits the ground. But the fact is, if many of those bikers hadn't been wearing a helmet, they might not have a tbpi, but they might also be dead. The seatbelt may hav...

Re: Impetigo...I have it

I'm pretty sure both those bacteria can cause impetigo-I've had it too and it's very horrible :( The infection gets in thru a wound, so it probably got in thru your cold sore. Hope you feel better soon.

<t>Great movie, loved it, but it wasn't like he broke new ground, the World Health Organisation has been pointing out these problems in the US system for years.<br/> <br/> Universal health care does usually involve waiting lists, but as far as acute injury goes like tbpi, there is no waiting list in...

Re: Arm has life of its own.

<t>Hi Janelle<br/> What you're desctribing sounds a lot like the random impulses people with partially healed peripheral nerve injuries such as tbpi get. The arm twitching is called fasciculation, the itching under the skin that you can't scratch is called formication. My arm used to flap about like...
