Your right, if I'm busy I don't think about it. We took our children to Disney World this past summer and I wasn't in much pain and I laughed alot! Winter is coming and I know the pain is going to be the wrost. I notice if I have a glass of wine it helps but if I have too many the next I'm in more pain than the day before. I'm calling my dr @ mayo today see if I can get a perscrition for PT and losen up my very tight sore muscles, what muscles I have. I had a motorcycle in 1987 w/ my HS boyfriend. He thought the road turned one way but it turned the other and we hit a tree head on @ 55 mpr. He died a month later on his 18th b-day. I never liked his motorcycle but it was the cool thing back then to have one @ 17/18 yrs old. He took me for a ride on a back road on a wed night. I don't remember a thing. How are you dealing with it? What do you miss the most that you can no longer do? I actually miss water skiing and dancing at weddings. I feel silly, I probably look stupid, too.

Anyone tried Oxycontin, ive was prescribed it about 2 months ago after my pain Dr recomended it 10mg in the morning and 10mg 12 hours after, i also take 3600mg Gabapentin 250mg lamotrogine in the day, for bed time i have trazadone and zopoclone. Yesterday i ran out of Oxycontin, so i thought i would stop taking it completly, bad idea!!! i was ready to hang myself by the afternoon, i didnt realise how much it was helping. I dont like the idea of taking all this stuff, but for me its the only alternative. I also smoke canabis, i find it v helpfull, but i risk being thrown into jail for it, you have to do what you think is best. Its unbelievable to think others suffer the same as i do, ! Good luck everybody! keep positive!

You should NEVER stop taking any drug just cold like that. It screws up your head and your system. It is something that the Drs only ever mention occasionally, if at all. Its dangerous...don't do it!

I was on ametriptylene for years (5-6) and decided I'd had enough of the awful side effects and stopped taking them one night. I won't go into details, but I was a basket case after 3 days...and promptly went straight back on them. I took nearly a year cutting the dose down from 75 milligrams a night to nothing. I did it real s l o w and in the end, after getting the dose down to 10 mgms, I cut this pill into 4 and slowly reduced even these tiny amounts. Result was my system wasn't shocked...and my head stayed reasonably straight! ;0) I don't take anything now...not even aspirin for headaches if I can help it. Stay safe people.

I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend and your injuries. My dad had an accident in april and he's in a whole lot of pain he's got a bpi with an avulsion of the C8 and T1. He describes it as having his arm submerged in a deep fryer. He used to have his own business and was an active person. Him and my mom had a fun social life to and he can't seem to enjoy himself at all anymore. These injuries are horrible. I hope someone finds a solution someday soon.

Hello,

I'm new to this site, just found it a couple of days ago. I was in a car accident more than 22 years ago, with BPI to my right arm. Throughout the last 22 years, I have experienced alot of pain and up until a few years ago, never looked for any kind meds to relieve the pain. Two years ago I started taking Neurontin, 900mg a day, pain was better but as time passed, pain became worse. Last October my dosage was increased to 1200mg aday it helped, but not as much as I was led on to believe...oh and I started to gian more weight. Well, last week feeling bloated and still in pain, I stopped taking the pill and to my amazement, the pain is so much better off the pill than on. Probably not for everyone, but it feels great to be clear headed again. Just an FYI.

Also, to address the post regarding waterskiing, go for it!!!! I still waterski, snowski and shoot in thre high 80's in golf, never feel like you look stupid, just be happy that you're alive and can watch your kids play and be happy!!!

hi all, just found this site, whilst seaching for a new sling.
i'm rbpi following, you've guessed it, a bike rta. blissfully riding up the bonnie banks of loch lomond, only to be wiped out by italian tourists, on the wrong side of the road.
all this happened on 10 aug 1990, and i, like many of you have been suffering plenty of serrrrious pain.
the drugs don't work...unquote.
saw a tv programme about pain relief, the treatment involves a mirror box. you can use one mirror. sit with the mirror in a vertical position.
as i am rbpi the mirror is on my right hand side, perpendicular to my body. as you feel pain you flex you good hand/arm.... and the theory is, that you can fool your brain into thinking the signals are getting thru to the hand.
it's kinda difficult describing it in words, a diagram would be simpler, but haven't figured out how to do that. hope this is of some use, it works a bit for me.
