Shriner's

Off to Shriner's in the AM with Amber for a check-up. Wish us luck with the check-up and weather conditions. I believe the weather should be clear, but it is winter afterall!

Things went splendid at Amber's doctor appointment. She needs a 5 year post-op MRI, but we can have that done locally, and hopefully without anesthesia this time since she's much older. Her elbow didn't need a new splint. He said a few kids had come into the clinic complaining of pain just that day when they go through a growth spurt, and that was one of our complaints to review with him as well. Lots of massage and heat, but the elbow still looks the same as it did a year ago basically. All good news. Once again, the "team" came in and there was an "ahhh" that came out of the student's mouth when she reached overhead and again when viewing her winging scapula. She does amazing and it always catches new people off-guard. It's kinda funny now waiting for their reaction. Amber was glad to see Scott again and ran up and gave him a big hug. She thinks the best part of the trip though was when she received a mini radio with earphones as her Christmas present from Shriner's. Gold!

After the appointment, we drove to Lancaster and stayed overnight there to do some outlet shopping. Lancaster really isn't that far away from Philly! I hit the jackpot Christmas shopping! Woo Hoo!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
