I had my accident a year ago tomorrow, and this has been the worst year of my life If I had any guarantee that amputation would take the pain away I would do it tomorrow. I can live with the disability but the pain is killing my spirit.

I don't know if I can suck it up and live with the pain or do I even want to live with the pain

It kills me watching people do what I used to do (mainly the sport) from training 6 days a week to nothing, trying to train twice a week now but this is more a chore than anything else. I cant remember when last while spending time with friends or family I actually laughed and had fun...where is the quality of life???

Sorry for the negative post but that is where I am right now. Is there anyone on the forum that could recommend a good pain team or specialist who I could see in the Johannesburg or Pretoria region of South Africa.

hi I know nothing kills a topic faster than when I apply but oh well, went to see the doc about amputating my arm . He told me he could do a tendon transfer to get flextion back in my hand and fingers ,don't know if I even want to try .don't know if it will make enough differance to bother keeping it.my left arm does not work at all,my fingers will curl in but they will not flex out.just don't know, wish he would not of said anything.

I thought this might help, there was so many that read or look at the responses
here ;)
Going forward seeing a doctor at Mayo would be a Big ++ as Jmar said or see a doctor who closer, There is limited list here to.
How a doctor would not refer you to a Doctor who treats our injury  , I dont know how a arm is taken off before a referral happens
I think getting Dans sling might help for pain Some and teach you to think and do things one hand, I have always thought one handed with birth erbs , we all seem to do a lot one handed even waring a sling or without a arm  ;)
I am just thinking here, In hopes you might see one more doctor for help????? ;)

The question on amputation and bionic replacement came up at last post, in Topics shock: I thought I would post here. I thought the others posting here, might help  Bionic arms will help for those who did not get help from any doctor and the only chose was amputation
I am glad the chose of a bionic arm is out there.
If I remember right ?? Chris posted on this topic.
When you talk to your doctors about your outcome from your transplants , ask about pain level outcome in your shoulder to  Weight on shoulder might increase pain from weight of bionic part??
I hope who get a bionic arm , can be in less pain as a outcome??
Pain from scare tissue , happens to with or without a arm overtime, Ouch
Just thinking
