Hi
I am posting this message from the UK at the request of Liz Finney's husband Neil.
It is with great regret and sadness that I post to inform the TBPI community of the sudden death of
Liz Black Finney.
Liz formed the charity TBPI UK some 6 years ago to support those injured with a TBPI in the UK
Liz will be well known to a great many members of UBPN having attended a UBPN camp some years ago and through the message boards here at UBPN and also at her own message boards in the uk.
Liz and her husband Neil along with her fellow charity trustees have worked tirelessly helping people with a TBPi for many years. She has helped to raise the profile of the condition and treatments to a much greater degree and has improved the lives of many people with her help and advice.
Liz was a warm, generous person, it was impossible not to like her and to be amused by her sense of humour.
Her common sense and "can do " attitude to life in spite of her injury were truly inspirational.
Liz died on Thursday October 16th very unexpectedly, leaving all of us who knew her totally grief stricken.
I know that it will take me and my family a very long time to come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful friend.
Rest In peace Liz

Rich,
Nice job on writing such a lovely eulogy from UBPN to the UBPN world in memory of Liz. What a great loss. My prayers and blessings go out to Neil and family members. I know Courtney is having a really hard time with this. Her contact with the UK will help her get through this. A tragic loss like this strikes one very hard. She does leave a real legacy to UBPN and we can be ever so greatful for that. Fondly, Shelley

Hi Shelley,
The words were written by Karen Hillyer, and I forwarded them to these forums from the TBPI forum with her permission.
But I couldn't have said it any better, and agree her loss will have an impact on the community and will surely be missed.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.
