Doctor for my 23 year old daughter

Post by Ruth's Mom2 »

Hello,
My 23 year old daughter sustained a BP injury to her right arm at birth. She has outgrown her pediatric specialist - Dr. Rinaldi at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. I would like to find a BP specialist who deals with adults and the issues specific to pain, overuse etc ...

We can certainly travel, but was hoping to find someone in the midwest.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Nancy,
Please post your question on other TBPI post, By the time you hit your 20s with birth injures you might need help in answering your question from others that got injuries latter in life
Pain and overuse happen by many post here
I know all about how much it hurts in trying to adapt in life, drove a semi and I am 62 with birth erbs , No surgery or treatment was ever offered to me
There is one thing for sure , the quest to find a treatment or medication for pain is a life long quest at birth or latter in life.
There has been many post on the overuse issue, so ask about the overuse question on the other posting sights ;)
I never got over use issues issues but in the end I got my good arm ripe up driving a semi,
We all endure so much to achieve what ever we can to overcome what we can. Parent helping the child , Child learning there way to adapt and latter in life injuries learning there way to.
Tenacity is a side affect of these injuries ;)
Hope this help,
Tom

I sought care for myself at the age of 43 at the Brachial Plexus Injury Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore (it is adjacent to Johns Hopkins).
The team there was more than receptive to seeing me as an adult and devising an evaluation and therapy plan for the issues I had been having after many years of doing nothing specific for my injury and just living my (active) life.
Highly recommend them.
