Re: skin changes when running anyone?

I run and bike a lot, but I can't say I've seen this effect. That being said, I don't have a lot of sensation anywhere on my injured arm, so I might not see this. Great to hear she's going for a 5K!

Re: new to this site

Hi Jeff, Sorry to hear about your injury. Most posts you read in this forum will encourage you to find a provider that specializes in adult brachial plexus injuries. Each person's condition varies, and as a result, so does the approach. Notable examples of BP specialists are a group at the Mayo Clin...

Re: Muscle Transfer

I had a muscle transfer to my biceps and had to wear a pretty complicated cast + sling combo too. My arm was cast in kind of a bent 90 degree position, and I had this sling that had velcro straps and a big wedge to hold it against my torso. I'm just glad I had it done in the summer, so I didn't have...

Re: walking long distances

Congrats on your decision to do a long distance like that! I would go with a sling for sure. I use one of Dan's for running, but if I was just walking, a more "normal" sling could work too. I used to use this one a lot: http://armsling.com/ It's black and pretty unnoticeable on dark clothi...

Re: My new custom cutting board

I can see it (I'm using Google Chrome on Windows 7).

I always thought that since I hold my chef's knife in my good hand and put my bad one in a sling, there's no more chance of nicking my finger on a knife- but not with that thing! Keep posting any other cool stuff you cook up!

Re: Gabapentin ER

Hi all, This med is now available in 300mg and 600mg tabs. You take them in the evening and the coating slowly dissolves, which means that you get the gabapentin slower but at a more sustained rate. I'm on about day 7 of trying it out. The issue I've seen with this is that I was on gabapentin 800 x3...

Re: Visine for horners

Yes there is (or at least I had the option). I spoke to the opthamologist who said she could do it (and has done it many times), and said it's a pretty brief outpatient procedure. I told her I'd try out the Visine solution first and might consider the surgery down the road. Anyways, the provider was...

Visine for horners

Hi all, Just wanted to share a interesting bit I learned on my last Mayo trip. Part of my injury is a horner's syndrome, where my eyelid droops a bit on the affect side, especially when I'm tired. I asked Dr Bishop what could be done about that, which resulted in an immediate consult over to Mayo op...

Re: Mayo Clinic or Dr Mackinnon

Hi waflood, You might have trouble finding people that have gone to both places and have an opinion on both. From what I've read here, you're in good hands in either place. My ortho surgeon recommended both places, and I went to Mayo because they had a special BP team (figured a team of specialists ...
