Re: World Open One Armed Golf Championship!

That is excellent!! Any hope of the video? I have a good video of me before the tournament with a good shot of my swing, I wanted to analyze it, so I have that. I also have a few good swings from other competitors, I have video of the two guys in the finals, one swings forehanded the other swings b...

Re: World Open One Armed Golf Championship!

Can I ask how much mobility/control you have with the BPI arm? All I have is my bicep, so basically none. Also, you were obviously a talented player before...how long did it take for you to get back in the game, and did you take any lessons or just go to the range and start with the basics? Yes, I ...

Re: New member as of 7/20/12

Hi Francisco, I was injured when I was 18, I avulsed all five of my nerves and I had the intercostal surgery five months later. I have my bicep, but that is all. As far as the pain, it has been there from the start and is still part of life. As you describe, it fluctuates from low to high at random....

Re: World Open One Armed Golf Championship!

By the way, the shoes I wear now are the Footjoy BOA's, they don't have laces but have a dial on the rear of the shoe that works like a snowboard boot, not only are they great for support, but for one hand, they are BEST! (you can search Footjoy BOA and find a bunch of models, from about $60.00 to o...

Re: World Open One Armed Golf Championship!

Hi Fred, You can see from this picture I don't use my bad arm at all, I have no use of it, so I just put it in my pocket to get it out of the way. Ask away on the tips, except I will say what I believe and work hard to do, you need to get the club on the proper swing plane, which there is a correct ...

Re: Amputation...

Hi Tom, I think this might be one of those subjects were the difference between the OBPI and the TBPI are just difficult to understand. As someone who has all five nerves avulsed and only the bicep working, I completely understand the reason why "we" amputate, even though it is something I...

Re: Amputation...

Hello everyone, Is there anyone around who has had their arm amputated? Did you notice any big differences? How did people perceive you differently? Do you regret it? Did you experience more pain? less pain? or about the same? Cheers, Andrew Hi Andrew, I know there are threads on this site that dea...

Re: Trouble finding Doctor

Just wanted to comment a bit further and add some clarity to my prior answer. I agree 100% with both jmar and Brian, Mayo is not the only place to go! There are many times writing a quick comment the nuances in what we are trying to say don't get noticed. One of the things I was paying attention to ...

Re: Trouble finding Doctor

If you are new reading this site, you might not have the background to know of Christopher's depth of knowledge on this injury and the Dr's who specialize in it. I mention this as a way to add emphasis to his recommendation to the Mayo clinic. If you were to talk to him, he could recite most of the ...
