Re: Approaching 6months Texas Help please

Hi George, I'm not familiar with any specific providers in Texas (I went to Mayo in MN), but the consistent message you'll hear from folks here is to find someone who specializes in BP injuries specifically. My ortho surgeon was keen enough to see that I had a BP injury but did not have the backgrou...

Re: Athletic Activities you are doing!

Hi Dan, You're absolutely right - you don't get to rest much between legs and you barely sleep. Since my team left at 5a on a Friday, started at 9am and then we finished around 1pm on Saturday, we all slept around 5 hours over 2 nights. I ran 3 legs-- 8 mi, 3mi, 7.8 mi, so around 19 miles total. You...

Re: Athletic Activities you are doing!

Hey all, Just wanted to share that I completed the 197 mile Chicago Ragnar Relay with 11 teammates. For those unfamiliar, these types of races involve 12 people, 2 vans, and not very much sleep over about 30 hours. The race is divided into 36 legs, and at any given time a member of your team is in t...

Re: Gabapentin ER

Hi Angela,

If you don't mind sharing, what do you take now, if anything?

Because yeah, I take a bunch of this stuff everyday, and it helps somewhat, but if there's other stuff people have found that works, I'm all for it.

Thanks!

Gabapentin ER

Wanted to share this for anyone on neurontin: The FDA recently approved a slow-release version of gabapentin, http://www.drugs.com/gralise.html For anyone who takes a lot of this per day, this drug might make it so you only need to take it once per day, and the amount of med in your system stays pre...

Re: One Handed Typing Software for PCs

Hi Peter, I've been typing 1 handed for over 2 years. The reason why I haven't tried other keyboards or software yet is because I work as a software consultant and I'm on different computers (for my clients) as I do my job. So I haven't wanted to learn a way to type that only works on my PC, but I s...

Re: RESEARCH STUDY?

Hi Madison, What type of pain relief were they working on -- the pain from shoulder subluxation or the phantom limb neuropathic kind? And which provider at Mayo told you about it? I'm asking because Mayo sent me a request for a followup appointment. I haven't gone for a while due to costs getting th...

Re: One of those days..

Hi MadisonB,

Outside of meds, I've found that hard aerobic exercise (running, cycling, etc) is one of the few consistent ways to break the pain cycle. I've found that if I need to lay off of training for a while (sick, injured, travel, work), the pain gets more frequent.

Re: RESEARCH STUDY?

Hi Armstrong, Mayo is always running some sort of study, and when I'm there I'm always asked to fill out a lengthly survey about my function, outlook, etc. Probably not the same thing as your study, but I always figure that if it's legit, why not add to the body of knowledge. If it turns out that yo...

Getting to Tri camps

In case anyone is interested, Getting to Tri (a group that provides coaching for paratriathletes) has a couple camps this spring and summer for all ability levels. http://www.g2tcamp.org/ I'm certainly considering the Midwest one. Relatively speaking, it's not too expensive and the price includes lo...
