Hi Angela,
Just wanted to say congrats and that your mini video was great! I had a bone stimulator too - I'm not sure if it helped but it sure didn't do any harm.

Re: Headed to Minnesota
One thing I've found is that you don't necessarily need a rental car, especially if you're only there for a few days. There is a hotel shuttle that operates from RST and almost all hotels. You can get in at the desk by baggage claim, and it's $11.50/person. A taxi is a flat $25, so if you have 2+ fo...

Re: fingernails
Hi Jmar,
I've noticed the same thing, but I think it was due to dryness. When I put hand lotion on my affected hand regularly, and made sure to get it around the nailbed, it seemed to go away. Maybe give that a try?

Re: Anyboby try or know these pain meds?
Hi Barry,
I use tramadol in the way your doctor describes - to take the edge off pain when it's preventing me from sleep. I think it's pretty effective, and it only lasts about 4 hours, so there aren't any effects the next morning. Good luck,

Re: Medicine question
Hey Brian, Just wanted to say I can commiserate on all terms of what you describe below. I've tried amitriptyline, but got crazy sleepy (take 50mg of that + a couple beers and you'll sleep for 13 hours), and interestingly, desipramine had the opposite effect where I couldn't sleep. Goes to show that...

Re: fatigue of good arm
Hi Jeff, I can vouch for one of those slings - I have 3 and have done a bunch of road racing and multisport races in them. If you search for posts by me or "athletic arm sling" you'll likely find pictures of it. It basically allowed me to get back to sports within about 6 months of my inju...

Re: BPI's at Challenged Athletes Weekend!
If I didn't already have out of country plans that weekend, I would be there for sure. I'm planning to be at the Amsterdam 1/2 marathon if I can get my training together. I met members of CAF last weekend, as they were hosting an adaptive swim clinic in Chicago with my paratriathlon training group. ...

Re: wondering about adapted bikes
I did the same thing as Dan, although since I'm not that great of a cyclist I replaced my road drops with a MTB riser bar and brake. See close-up picture here: http://ubpn.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34634 One brake lever pulls rim brakes on front and rear. An index shifter controls the rear ...

Re: Athletic Activities you are doing!
Hi Angela, Yeah it's pretty annoying. I run with a few groups, and every time there are new people I have to go explain it all again. I run in very dense urban areas, so there is no shortage of people staring at the sling and slowing down their cars to look. It's tough because I usually just want to...
