Re: New to UBPN

John As smaller should is probably more noticeable on a man. Yes, it is common and many people complain about the difference. I don't know if it is because of the position our shoulders are in. Many have scapular winging. I was not even aware of that until I saw a photo of me taken from the back on ...

Re: New to UBPN

Welcome John! You have quite a journey of discovery ahead of you. I've been around her so long but when I first found UBPN there were only 4 adult obpi. I was sure that this was a rare injury and I was part of a rare group. Sorry be we are not as rare as most of us thought we were. It's important to...

Re: IMPORTANT!!!! New Video and New Study needs Adult OBPI's

I'm interested in joining this study. I'm 71, no surgeries and very disappointed in the fact that the medical community does not understand this injury. I attended, on behalf of UBPN, Disabilities Across the Lifespan Conference at the NIH a few years ago. They were shocked to learn that "we&quo...

Re: IMPORTANT!!!! New Video and New Study needs Adult OBPI's

Thanks so much for sharing all your information.

I will join this study. Due to my age I've had natural healing with PT and no surgery.

Re: Back Pain?

I've always had back and neck pain. I've never had any surgery and tons of PT, Chiro etc. I have scoliosis and scapular winging... not very noticeable since I've aged. Go figure when I was young and in a bikini... you could see it... Now I'm old and don't go swimming in public anymore... and it's no...

Re: hello

Hi and Welcome to our exclusive club. It's called the medically neglected adult/obpi club. It is not unusual for doctors to shrug their shoulders as if it's no big deal. They are not educated as to the true nature of our injuries. For years they assumed it went away. There have been no long term stu...

Re: Joining the 36%

Hi Savannah's Mom I can't imagine how hard it must be on you to be on this road with obpi. I am OBPI have a global injury and most of my life thought is was mild.. My Mom started therapy for me at 2 weeks and I'm her 8th child. She lost three children to " traumatic birth"... I thought it ...

Re: Opportunity is knocking!

It is important for the medical professionals to understand we have suffered lifelong ramifications as a result of this birth injury. Since these are bpi specialists they know about the pediatric care of children with obpi but adult/obpi are neglected by the medical profession. They would prefer to ...

Re: 10K Mud Run Pics

Great going Dan! You are a great role model for all those bpi injured who think our injury stops them from doing the things, in life, that we dream of. When I was young the managers of sports teams ect. Just never gave us a chance.....now the sky is the only limit. My son did this after his triathlo...

Re: New York Presbytarian study

Thanks Rich and Ken for posting this information. My Gyno told me his office had drills on SD deliveries. He was the first Gyno to even mention my arm, most tried to ignore it or assure me that the injure saved my life. I wish more doctors would review the methods and manuvers needed to delivery a b...
